On an Average Day

Labels:

Don't miss a chance to check out some great local art this weekend, On an Average Day will be playing tonight through Sunday at the Ocean Pines Golf and Country Club.

Local actors, Charles Jeffrey Keenan and Brandon Michael Cater have teamed up with the Ocean Pines Players Club to put on this great theatrical event filled with additional local art.  Keenan and Cater graduated from local High School Stephen Decatur and have spent the last 10 years studying the art of theater.  Needless to say, they are no amateurs to the stage. Written by John Kolvenbach, On an Average Day has been described as a psychological drama, mystery, comedy.  Keenan and Cater have both produced and directed the entire play.  With the help of their Public Relations Specialist Sara Sabia, also a SDHS Theatrical Graduate, the play is expected to be a wonderful event featuring our local arts.

Tickets are only $15 and include light hors-d'oeuvres, dinner snacks, live music and additional local art on display.  There will also be a cash bar.  After each show there will be a presentation to learn more about Keenan and Cater.  The best part is that this is for charity! All proceeds from the production will go to the Drama Department at Stephen Decatur.

Spring?

Wednesday, March 14, 2012

Weather is beautiful once again, lets all keep our fingers crossed that another freak snow storm doesn't roll through!

Today it's 72 and sunny.... and the weatherman predicts the next few days to be the same.  I can't wait to get out the bike and hit the boards!

What's your favorite boardwalk activity?  This time of year I love going to the arcade, Skeeball is my absolute favorite.

I recently found a great article about being a Skeeball Master!  I can't wait to try out a few of it's tricks.  Did you know that once you pick your machine you should stick with it?

Check out these great tips - let me know how it goes for you!

Happy National Crab Meat Day!

Friday, March 9, 2012

I hope you are enjoying your National Crabmeat Day!

I simply couldn't resist posting today, considering that Maryland's famous for our blue crabs... and no one has Crab Meat like the Eastern Shore!  I thought I'd share my favorite recipe for Maryland Crabcakes (because that's what Maryland does, Crabcakes!)

Maryland Crabcake
1 pound fresh lump crabmeat
1/2 cup saltine cracker crumbs
2 eggs beaten
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 teaspoon Old Bay Seasoning
1/2 teaspoon white pepper
1 teaspoon Worcester Sauce
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons fresh parsley
Lemon Wedges

In a bowl mix together eggs, mayonnaise, spices, Worcester Sauce and Dijon mustard.  Add crab meat evenly.  Add cracker crumbs evenly.  Shape into 6 - 8 cakes.  Chill cakes for 2 hours.  Place on buttered sheet pan and bake at 450 degrees until golden brown OR in large pan fry cakes in oil until golden brown. Serve with Lemon Wedges

Eastern Shore Tartar Sauce
1 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup finely chopped dill pickle
1/2 cup minced onion
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
1 tablespoon dill pickle
Add Old Bay to taste

Combine all ingredients in a bowl, chill prior to serving.

Could Spring be on Hold?

Tuesday, March 6, 2012

I think Mother Nature is pretty confused this year... Last week the temperature was almost 70 degrees here at the beach, and then yesterday the temperature dramatically dropped and large chunky (beautiful) snow flakes fell throughout the day.  Then oddly enough, around 5:30 the sun came back out as if we never experienced any sign of winter at all.

As beautiful as the flakes were, none of them stuck.  They were just large wet flakes falling from the sky, from my window it looked almost like a snowglobe outside.  I was beginning to think we'd never see a snowfall this season, but I guess we got ours.  The sun is back out today, but it's still pretty chilly.  Perhaps there was some truth to the conflicting Groundhog predictions this year...

Are you ready for Spring or would you prefer a little more snow?

Loving the Weather

Another beautiful day at the beach!  It definitely doesn't feel like February.  Today was sunny and around 65 degrees.  Last year it was 30 degrees on this day!
